I might get a laptop with a TV tuner built in with it, I was wondering how it works. I have cable in my house, so can I get the reception from that to the computer?
I also learned that The tuner can be used as a Tivo...is this true?

Yes, depending on what tuner you have.

Either the tuner has a coaxial input (hook your cable straight up) or an 'RCA' input (with plugs that are red, white, and yellow, you'll need a switch from the store to use that.)

The tuner can't be used as a Tivo itself, you also need special software to do that. Either the Windows Media Player 2005 operating system, or a third party software package called MythTV (which you can search for online.) MythTV may be a pain to set up, but you can find support online too, so good luck.
