The United States will never annex the Philippines.

There would be great advantages for both countries if that happened though.

1. Lots of jobs would go to the Philippines
2. Philippines would now earn the dollar
3. It is easier to travel to and from the U.S.A.

As said earlier, that was decided in 1945. The US will never annex The Philippines. In fact, Guam and the Northern Marianas haven't been able to convince the majority of US citizens to let them become a State (which would be good for the islands as well as giving the US legitimacy as a Pacific nation). The people of The Philippines are happy having their own nation, and that is the way it should be.

Why would a Filipino entertain the idea of being annexed to the US?
You would be better of declaring war against the US, firing a few shots over their heads and then quickly surrendering.
The US will then invade and arrest all your corrupt officials, pour millions of dollars into the Phils., fix a lot of the infrastructure etc.etc.
After 5 years you can petition the UN to remove the US from your soil or stage an uprising and do it yourself.

Your President would then be George W. Bush isn't that enough reason not to even think about being annexed?

if the philippines are only few islands not more 7,000 islands then we woukld benefit a lot from being a us teritorry.just look at some of the islands US had annexed GUam,american samoa ,now hawaii is a state of america.and many more.i think the american realised that it will be very hard to control the whole of the philippines when there are muslim separatist and communist insurgents.i wish we are an US teritorry so i dont have to leave my motherland to somewhere else in this world.most of us would agree that it will be great advantages for all of us being part of USA.

for the filipinos if the country is annexed to the usa, a lesser one, they dont need any more visa to go to disneyland , for the usa government plenty of advantages, now they have a new supply of soldiers to fight the war in irag and afghanistan , natural resources will now become more legal and higher fees paid to the federal , in old they just paid corrupt phil. official on lesser value now they have to pay it in right . so for the filipinos dont bother to be annexed let work together to obey the laws and no one should be above the law.

1. Philippines having a highly politicized population, the US will be swamped with clownish presidential candidates. So US elections will never be a bore;
2. Philippines will be feared and be given much respect in the world politics as it will become the US arsenal ;

When it does? Its not a sure thing at all. You're on your own, there hasn't been a move for a 51st state for several decades. Besides, you could still do better on your own, just need to make some right decisions and take some hard chances.

Zero percent chance of happening. Don't waste your time thinking about it.

My suggestion: fix your country from the inside out, instead of relying on foreign assistance. Sounds impossible, but still more likely to happen than annexation.

The people wouldn't be dirt poor anymore. Ask Filipinos, and most are in favor of Philippines becoming a U.S. state.

Easy travel, I guess. Filipinos will no longer have a hard time applying for a visa to be able to travel to the US. Nurses in particular will have easy access to the US for employment. US in turn will benefit from it because it's problem of nurse shortage will be alleviated.
