I've always heard that New York was the city that never sleeps, but in today's world, that description could be given to a great many cities. I live in a rural area where the largest town is about 11,000, and sometimes I wonder if anyone sleeps here! Dang kids with their loud music :P

New York
From the song "New York, New York"
Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS.

There is a common misconception that Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps. While I think this should be the truth it is not.
New York is commonly accepted as the city that never sleeps.
