I'v heard that you should put them on a board to start. How do you attach it to the board, then what happens, does the plant grow around the board or what? I tried attaching mine to a tree with bungee cords but it doesn't seem to be working very good.

i use sphagnum moss (sold for orchid use) in a wire basket. just fill the basket with the moss and stick the root side of the fern in leaving any of the niche or shield leaf on the ouside of the basket. you can attach this to a board sideways if you want it growing on a board or put one on upside down on top of another one to make a hanging ball.
