Can I rotate the work area in Illustrator?

Question

I am using a blank postcard template (horizontal) which is made of 2 vertical areas next to each other. I would like to turn this template/work area vertically, so that the 2 vertical areas now become horizontal.

Is it possible and how?

I'd like to add that if I only set the art board to portrait, then the template does not rotate at the same time, so the design does not fit anymore.
