I try to log in on Windows start up and I forgot my password. How can I recover this password? *actually its a friend who is having this problem*

the OS is Windows 2000 Professional and this pc was given to this friend.

Go into safe mode before Windows loads...the button varies with each system or company that makes it but its usually something like f8...you'll see it in the lower portion of the screen before the windows logo pops up

Start in safe mode,go to control panel,user accounts,make a administrator account,delete your old account and wright down your password.

If Safe mode doesn't work, use this:
http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

It will let you put in a blank password or change it without booting up in Windows.
