I know of one data entry type job that is real. Medical billing. There are doctor offices all across the country that contract out their billing. And about building a website, yes you can make money that way too. Money is everywhere, you just have to know how to harvest it. Scams...? Yes there are plenty of those too. Here is a site that has some good articles.

Yes, there are legit online jobs but they aren't the ones where a website screams out "CLICK HERE TO MAKE $10,000 A MONTH WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!!"

Mystery shop schedulers generally work online from home. These jobs aren't easy to find unless the person applying is an experienced mystery shopper. The same companies that hire mystery shop schedulers also hire mystery shop editors.. There are also telephone mystery shops, where a person posing as a typical customer calls businesses to evaluate the professionalism of the employee. Usually, the only requirement to become a telephone mystery shopper is a clear voice and a willingness to provide timely reports.

Will you get rich with any of these jobs? No, but it's a great way to earn some additional income each month.

Hi,

To be honest, you are probably not going to find a job working from home. Any opportunities you find that require a start up fee or money up front is a scam don't get sucked in!!

I encourage you to immediately put these jobs out of your mind. Here are some of my tips when looking for a job....

Networking - Register at your local Unemployment Office (you don't need to be on unemployment to register for their assistance). They often will have networking groups on a regular basis. They also are a good source for the jobs that never show up in the paper or online.

Check your local paper -- In many cases the papers classified are now online.

Search Smart Online -- If you don't have a lot of time, spend most of your time at sites that aggregate the job feeds from several job search engines. Prominently these include indeed.com and thingamajob.com.

Organization -- I use a free online application that allows you to track your ads, jobs you apply for, send or print mail merged correspondence, and track your job search history. This site is jobsearchlog.com
I invite you to check it out and you'll be able to keep track of what you apply for.

Good Luck,

Karen

If it is QUICK and EASY and FROM HOME it is definitely a scam. Tell your mother to be careful because these ads are in the newspapers as well. She needs to be mindful of what personal information she shares with strangers.

Make sure she never gives her-
Social Security number
Birth Date
etc.

With that said their is definitely "work from home jobs"; however, they're typically independent contractor roles where she will not be receiving benefits. It is very hard for a company to employ people to work from home because of Workers Compensation. If your mother slipped on the bathroom floor at home she could say that she was "at work, working" and the company would have to pay her for not only the medical bills, but the time it took her to get well enough to work again. That is why these positions are independent contract roles.

Another aspect of these work from home positions is that the REAL ones are usually associated with a specific skill sets that come with years of experience.

Some examples are-
Graphic Design
Editing
Computer Programmers
Mortgage Lenders
and third party Recruiters.

I have recruited for some real work from home positions and they were HIGHLY COMPETITIVE. I got 100+ resumes on average.
