I have a 10 gallon fish tank. My filter is running fine, and there is no algae on the sides of the tank. I have 11 fish. I don't feed them too much food. A couple of days ago I saw that the tank was getting cloudy. I knew that in a week or so I had to change the water. I put in AquaSafe, but the next day it was still cloudy. I changed the water 2 days after I noticed that it was cloudy, and now its still cloudy. Any ideas why it's so cloudy? Is there anything that I can do to get rid of it? Any answer will be greatly appreciated :)

the cloudy is bacteria and is usually fine and very common in new tanks -- if you try to change any water it will just feed the bacteria. if you have a water test kit you want to make sure your ammonia and nitrites are ok. if you don't you can smell ammonia -- if it smells bad you need to do do gravel vacuums and 25% water changes every couple of days. anytime you open your fish tank and go "ew" do gravel vacuums and water changes every couple of days.

After reading some of the answers below/above I can agree with many of them. Your tank is over crowed. You are probably going through a cycling of the filtration system and are having a bacteria bloom.

Cleaning a tank by taking all of the water out is not a good idea if there is no sickness in the tank. You'll just have to cycle the tank again. Leave half of the water in the tank when you syphon it. Then, in a day or two, syphon it again. This will allow you to keep the beneficial bacteria and get rid of the nasty chemical build up in the water.

Give it a try.

If it is a white / milky looking cloudiness you have a bacteria bloom. This can happen when you change too much water all at once or clean gravel, things like that. It will clear up naturally given a few days to a week. Nothing you do will really help the cloudiness very much and nothing will stop it forever except letting the tank naturally settle in.

sounds like a bacteria bloom. how often are you changing the water? If youre cleaning too much, sometimes this happens. Did you cycle the tank before adding fish?

I would not add any medications at this time.

First off, it sounds like you have way too many fish in your tank.
They do have a product out called Aquaclear to help with the cloudiness. It has something to do with the good toxins trying to beat tou the bad toxins. Go to your nearest fish store and explain your situation,,,they'll set you up....good luck

I have learned that when "cleaning the tank" you should not remove all of the water completly, you have to leave some of the old water in there to keep tha good bacteria, one of the reasons for clouding is that the good needed bacteria isn't there to prevent it.

you have way too many fish in your tank, thats why, what i do is every few years or so i take everything out of my fish tank and clean EVERYTHING out even my rocks, and get all that junk out, i put the fish in a bucket with an air pump with water from the tank, then after a day or so after i put the solutions in i put the fish back, it helps keep my water clear.

sounds like you have a problem with amonia, the way i would treat it is to feed yoru fish every other day for a week and leave it alone, keep the light on during that time and just leave it be

You have too small a tank for 11 fish.

The general rule is one inch of fish per gallon of water, max.

I had the same problem! its not anything you did! your filter needs to be rinced out! And change ALL your water.
Just a warning: my fish got dropsy just after this happend. dropsy can SOMETIMES be treate with gentamicen. (I think thats how you spell it) I would start treatments EMEDATLY today! don't wait till the scales pop up, when that happens, theres nothing else you can do but mercy killing.
