Sounds like a hormonal imbalance. It could of occured from your surgery. Were you absolutely ready to have your tube ties??? The emotional part of having your tube ties sometimes can make you feel "less of a woman" so to speak. Most the time for the tubes being tied are medically necessary. However, if you were not completely sure of the decision and if it was not necessary, you may be feeling a loss. Either way, women losing something like the opportunity to give birth, whether medical reasons or personal choice, it will cause alot of post traumatic stress. I would consult the physician who performed the surgery for futher guidance. All the best.

It would help to know your age. Is this the first time that this has happened in your life? If you are in your late 30's or early 40's and you have never had mood swings before, chances are that it is not Bipolar Disorder. It usually does not come on for the first time that late in life. If you are in your 20's it could be. I am going to assume that you are at least 35. If you had a child and your tubes tied this could have disrupted your hormone levels. I have heard that sometimes women who have their tubes tied go into an early menopause, or a prolonged perimenopause. This will cause some really crazy psychological symptoms in some women. You need to see your gynecologist. Meanwhile here is some extra information. Good luck.

It sounds like you may need to go on some hormones to regulate your mood. Some women have mood swings and estrogen problems after having their tubes tied. They go through a sort of menopause state and need hormones to regulate the moods. I am bipolar, and have worked in a mental health practice with 28 doctors for years, and can say that what you are describing does not sound like typical bipolar disorder. Visit your OB-GYN or family doc and discuss the symptoms you have been having since the tubal, I am sure there is a more simple solution.

We need to be concerned about wide mood swings...very concerned. With bipolar disorder, one 'extreme' may include irritability, feeling the need to talk (faster), racing thoughts, decreased need for sleep, distractibility and poor judgement including problems with rage and making bad choices. Bipolar disorder does occur with a degree of variability and is essentially caused by an extension of what causes depression.
We would especially worry about you for two reasons. You describe a postpartum onset and you're not listening to a professional. Both are pretty classic associative symptoms of bipolar disorder, by the way.
None of us wants to hear news like this but you have the quality of your child's life at stake right now. I assure you, without help, if this problem is left untreated there can be very serious short term and long term problems. Later in life, you may end up with many, many regrets.
The fact of the matter is perhaps you have a medical problem that you need help for. Get another opinion if you don't feel you can rely upon the one you've received. You will need to see a psychiatrist to get the right medication for this.
For the record, nothing in the research clearly suggests anything over the counter helps for this. Please do the right thing for you and your son. This isn't about your opinion........it's really about your committment to your family and your role as a mother.

PM-DD? I know exactly how you feel. I had a tubal ligation done as well. Am like a whole different person. Yet once I start my cycle I am exhausted and still lack patience just not as bad. I also feel as if in labor during my cycles. The pains in my abdomen shoot all the way down both legs to my feet! I have not discussed the problem with my Dr. yet but will. I know hormones or lack of play a role and possibly vitamin or mineral deficiencies. Possibly the pm-dd? I won't know until I speak with my Dr. Great question.
