im looking for a chic hotel-style reasturant in the city of Alexandria, in egypt for a romantic quite dinner with my husband. i tried to google it, but the only things i find are reasturants in popular hotels, theres a lot of other great places that arent on the interenet, maybe somebody might know of experience. besides most reasturants here are fast food, or sit down, but just not very classy. I live in Alexandria so you can say that I have some experience , you can go to:
Tikka Grill in Bahari (El Geish Avenue)
El Mahrousa Hotel in Sidi Beshr.
Abou Shakra in Loran.
Rakoda in El Shatby.
Cicil Hotel in El Raml Station.
Restaurants here are not very fancy , but the food is really good .
Have fun....

OK here goes. Intros first. I'm Greek involved in underwater archeology. I have been visiting Alexandria for approximately 90 days every year for the past 8 years. (We have an underwater dig in the old port of Alexandria where the Faros was). So.. there are not more than three fancy hotels in Alexandria. The Cecil (Montgomery's headquarters during WWII) (now a Sofitel franchise), The Metropolitan and one more that escapes me right now. The are all located at the same area not more than 100m apart. There are no fancy restaurants anywhere to be found including the hotels. Not in the sense you have in mind. There is very little tourism in Alexandria and the locals are very poor. The hotel restaurants are mostly empty. Chances are you will be eating alone. As for romantic... well that is personal. You can make out a romantic evening out of nothing. A descent place is the Greek Yacht Club (in Arabic :Nedi Unani) which has a relatively good cuisine and an awesome view of the old port and the Cornish of Alexandria. Also keep in mind it is a very economic place. 100$ is equivalent to about 720 Egyptian pounds which is by far more than the average Egyptian makes in a month. The hotels I mentioned tend to charge European prices but are still inexpensive
