The majority of answers said Newton, some had mentioned Einstein, and Galileo.
The other side of the coin, human had experienced gravity long before Newton.
It is just like to asking: Who had invented Rocket? Who had invented Dynamics?
You can go to Patent's office to find out. But a lot of inventions existed before the Patent's office was established.
We credited Newton because he had formulated gravity successfully, not because Newton found it..

Every person who ever lived has known that gravity existed. It is simply the obvious conclusion that, on the surface of the Earth, things that go up tend to go back down. There is a misconception that Newton somehow 'discovered' gravity. Newton only created a formulation which explained gravity's effects numerically, and showed that the gravitational force was proportional to the mass of the interacting objects, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This is not to undermine one of Newton's great achievements, but to say that he discovered gravity is somewhat misleading.

Sir Isaac Newton was the one who thought up the theory of gravity. This was proved when he was sitting under an apple tree, and an apple fell on his head. This is also why there is the saying "what goes up, must come down" Hope this helps! :)

Sir Isaac Newton has the claim to fame (with the scientific description), though gravity has been observed since the existence of life on Earth... The cavemen must've known things drop, right???

People have always sub-concisely known about gravity or every one would wonder why they didn't float around in the air, but the first person to study gravity and state the laws that apply to it was Sir Isaac Newton.

Isaac Newton. He was sitting under an apple tree and hit him on the head. He then got the idea of gravity!
