China didn't progress because it wanted to be like some other country, Japan is not a leader in technology because it wanted to be like some other country nor will India land anywhere if you aim at any other countries aspects. To improve India is the duty of the Indians.

The leaders can just lay the system. They won't come down to your locality to clean it. You gotta maintain it. I have actually seen Indians destroying the national property and then claiming the the government doesnot provide enough facilities. In the trains the people would tear of the seats just for fun and at times the very same people would complain that the railways don't provide value for their money. We spit around every corner of the road and expext the government syustem to clean it up. We throw garbage anywhere we like to and want the municipality trucks to come and pick it up. We hate to pay our taxes and later complain that the government is enforcing strict taxation policies. We steal electricity from the electric poles or somehow manipulate the electricc meter and complain about power cut offs. We waste water and blame the government for water shortage.

See the key to progress is not the government but the citizens. We need to co-operate. We need to perform our duties as citizens of India. That's it...

India cannot be like US. In some respect India may overtake US but US will rise from the ashes and be the leader always. India will be satisfied being a poor imitation. I am sorry to say so.

why should we be like usa in the first place? do we want to be living in an atmosphere of media - created psychosis ..intolerant of other races? do we want to be a country which is intolerant of people who make personal choices of being in same- sex relationships or of women who want to assert their choices about their own reproductive health? do we want a nation where religious text of a particular religion is read out in school assemblies every morning? do we want to be a nation where school children have easy access to guns and kill each other out of mere boredom? do we want to be a nation that refuses to acknowledge an obivous phenomenon as "global warming" in its policy documents on environment? do we want to be a nation that kills innocent civilians of poor coutnries and bombs them back to 16th century? do we want to be a nation, whose army sets new standards in brutality and totrture to innocent people? do we want to be a nation that has always used its muscle power to uproot elected government of sovereign nations?

WELL I BEG TO DIFFER... WE CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO BE SUCH A NATION
