Hey... I am trying to configure my dad's home office for him but i'm no IT pro. We have an old style HP Laserjet 3330 with a parallel port.

We have one stand alone PC which is connected to the printer at present, and two laptops (one PC one MAC). Ideally we would connect both but the PC is the main one we want to print wirelessly from.

I understand that in order to network the printer we need to get a jet direct card ... that will connect the parallel port to a USB connection (or ethernet?) so I can connect the printer to the router?

Does this mean I need to have a server installed?

Complete dummy here.

Is this correct? Can anyone advise?

Thanks!!!!

Yes the Jet Direct card has an ethernet interface on it. You can buy it from HP for about $100-200 or off ebay for $15 :)

You can share the printer - right click the printer and choose sharing. It works like a network drive share.

On the other computers, you'll need to add the printer via the network. Assuming the computers can all connect via wiress (the host computer is also attached to the wireless router) you should be OK.
