im working on a worksheet with mathematical equations, tried finding it on the symbols menu but i cant find it. im using excel 2003.

Go to insert > symbol.

choose your subset to "Mathematical Operators"

your should be able to see what u need...

Symbol For Pi In Excel

There is a Pi symbol in Excel. Go to Basic Greek and find "small letter pi." It looks like the pi symbol, a little house.

I think the other answers have missed the point. I assume what you are trying to do is enter a formula that contains Pi.

There is a function, PI(), which returns the value of Pi to 15 decimal places.

So, for example, if you wanted to compute the area of a circle from it's radius in cell A1, in cell B1 you would enter the formula:

=(A1^2)*PI()

There is probably more than one way to do this. What I do is copy the symbol from MSWord into XL. You can also create a math equation in MSWord and copy the entire equation into XL as a picture box. Good luck.

You were right to try Insert>Symbols... the font you want to use is Basic Greek π

It's there. Maybe you overlooked it because of the font...?
