the book i really injoyed reading were a series called SHADOW CHILDREN series that has the books Among the Hidden,Among the Imposters,Among the Betrayed.Among the barons, Among the brave, among the enemy, and the new book Among the free(the endding of the serie)all this books about a law that a family can't have more than 2 kids in the family so if any family does
the ''population police'' will kill them so now all the 3th kids will be
hidden and become shadow children but all that changes in these books when some kids risk their lifes to be free by getting
fake IDs of kids who died who weren't 3th kids.

I see someone recommended "Not Without My Daughter." I second that nomination. Will certainly keep you interested for a plane trip.
I also suggest Bill Bryson. Either "A Walk in the Woods" or "I'm a Stranger Here Myself." Everyone I have let read these books has said the same exact thing: "I thought I was going to pee my pants laughing so hard."

In Her Shoes, by Jennifer Weiner - how two very different sisters learn to love each other - and themselves

Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett - very long, very involved book set in 12th century England about a cathedral builder. WAIT! It's good, if you don't mind the really filthy language.

Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett - hilarious story about the end of the world.

Rats Saw God, by Rob Thomas - sharp, funny, smart - it isn't deep, but it's real (the author is the creator of the TV series Veronica Mars, the best show currently on television)

Here are some books that high school sophomores have liked:
- Breathing Underwater (about a boy named Nick who has abused his girlfriend and is court-ordered to take anger management classes)
- Monster (Myers - about a teenage guy who is in trial for murder)
- Eragon (some people read this book four times in three weeks!)
- One for the Money (Evanovich - she has a good series of mysteries)
- The Lovely Bones (by Alice Sebold, who also wrote Lucky. Lucky is non-fiction, The Lovely Bones is fiction. I personally liked The Lovely Bones more.)
- Summerland (Michael Chabon) - a world-class writer!
- Nicholas Sparks books (if you like romances)

Twilight (by Stephanie Meyer). (series)
It's about how a girl named Bella moved to Forks, Washington. There was a mysterious and un-humanly beautiful boy there. He somehow saved her life (three times!). Then she discovers that he's a vampire... and that she loves him...

Maximum Ride (by James Patterson). (series)
There are these kids, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, The Gasman, and Angel. They are ordinary in everyway... except that they are only 98% human... and the other 2% is BIRD. One day Angel is captured by the scientists that created them. So everyone has to save her. And on the way Max discovers that she must save the world...
(sci-fi)

Roswell High (by Melinda Metz). (series)
It's like any other day. Liz Parker, a waitress at a local cafe, was talking to her best friend. The two men in one corner of the resterant begin arguing about money. Then one man pulls out a gun. He aims for the other man... but misses and shoots Liz instead. Everyone knew she was dying. There was no way that she could survive. Then Max Evans puts his hands on her wound... and she comes to! but how is that possible?
Fifty years ago there was supposedly an alien crash. But that's just a myth... right?
(sci-fi)

The harry potter series

I also like the political thrillers by Vince Flynn. About a CIA agent that will do just about anything to get the job done...just like jack bauer in 24. My favorite Vince Flynn book is Transfer of Power, the first about the Mitch Rapp (the agent)

I'm currently reading the da vinci code by dan brown, which is good.

I'm 17, so just about your age.
