In my opinion what would make it work is equality, tolerance, interdependence, literacy, education and willingness to have a cross-pollination of ideas, as well as recognizing and compensating for weaknesses in one group with strengths of another.

This is just nutshell, I'm sure there are more.

pain, suffering, recognition of error, attempts to improve and correct the past mistakes. These are all human conditions and the fact that the average person has an IQ of one hundred doesn't make it ant easier. But there is one society who has been doing quite well at it for over two hundred years. Through dying for their independence from intolerant government and willingness to die for religious freedom to encroaching the borders od recognizing single sex partnerships and the rights of all to be equal simply because they are human. It has not been a perfect course of events but in the short time that his country has been in existence they have manged to change the ways of the many and the will of the few.

America. Let freedom ring.
