The only thing I can suggest is that you insist on taking your lunch. If they force you to work through it, they should pay you for it. In some states, they MUST pay you for it if you are FORCED to work through lunch. If you CHOOSE to work through lunch, the company doesn't owe you anything because they OFFERED you a 30 minute lunch break. Does that make sense?

If the companys policy is that they don't pay for the lunch period then they can legally clock you out for that 30 minutes. It's the only way, in most cases, they can run a time clock system without people abusing the time in and time out periods. Take your breaks and lunch period. They're there for your benefit.

It's a sad fact since labor unions lost all their power and politicians fell completely into Big Businesses pocket that the worker really has no rights. Go ahead and complain but find another job first.

Look up your local labor laws in regards to how you can address that. You didn't say what state you are in, and there are state-specific laws regarding such things.

Go to http://www.dol.gov/compliance/topics/wages.htm to see if you can find your particular state's laws regarding your breaks.

Here in California they can't take the time away. If you work on-call lunch, you have to be paid for it unless you do so voluntarily.

this has happened in my workplace for years .. if someone gets a lawyer they can get the manager fired for it ... it is illegal ... if u try to report it within the company to human resources for example .. the first thing they will do is contact ur manager which will then set u up to be fired for somthing else .... ive seen several managers get fired for it but what u need to do is talk to a lawyer and keep meticulous records of every time u punch in and out ...

The only thing you can do is take your breaks or find somewhere to report them if they do not allow you to take the specified breaks
