I've tried gargling Listerine, and drinking water. Drinking beer, taking a shot of liquor. Brushing my teeth, eating afterwards. Sometimes I'm fine, and other days my uvula is swollen. Some days it's barely swollen, and others, it's as big as my thumb. Her and I enjoy the act, and don't wish to give it up, but my uvula is annoying when it's swollen. Any advice?

There could be a number of reasons. She could have an infection, but it's more likely that you just have a sensitive throat. Do you still have your tonsils? Are you susceptible to allergies? or strep throat? I have the same issues with oral sex (and kissing) though i get severe tonsilitis from it. The suggestion of gargling salt water is a great one. make sure you really clean out your mouth and throat. i would stay away from alcohol and mouthwashes right after because that can have the opposite effect and make it worse. also, a baby aspirin right after seems to help me. and i find that if she showers first, that helps in keeping the inflammation down. If that doesn't work, you may just need some sort of barrier when you go down. My doc told me the only way my issues would go away is with a tonsilectomy, or to stop doing it..

It's very infrequent that I hear people complaining about their uvula... but in any case, have you noticed this issue with any other liquids? My theory is that oral sex with her is causing a mild infection in your mouth - the type of which I'm uncertain. The best solution is to gargle with salt water (much like when you suspect you could have a cold), but ultimately I would sit her down and determine her sexual history. You owe it to each other to be honest about these things. Alternatively, you might want to consult a doctor. Sexual infections can and do enter the mouth all the time - and it's extremely painful most of the time.
