Use lubrication and apply it inside and out. Start with one finger then graduate to two fingers. The woman needs to practice relaxing her rectal muscles and this is only going to happen if it is something that she really wants to do. Relax by clenching down on the man's finger(s) while he is applying the lube and then feel yourself relax around them.
If you don't wear a condom during vaginal sex, knowing that you are both disease free and have no other partners, then you don't need one for anal sex. Anal sex does NOT manufacture disease where it isn't already present and AIDS is transmitted more often through vaginal sex than anal on a global basis. If neither partner has AIDS before hand then having anal will NOT cause it.
Go slow, take your time and be gentle. Anal isn't for everyone and there is nothing wrong with those who choose not to have anal just as there isn't anything wrong with those of us who do.

You mention safety?? the best and most safest way to have anal sex is not to have it at all. Remember the anus has lots of disease. Its where poops comes out. Having Anal sex is like asking for AIDS. You Are Warned!!
