i would have to agree with Hardaway
all this tolerance has gone too far
everyone says how they accept gay people, but most people when it comes down to it are homophobic, whether they admit to it or not
if a gay person is looking at you, you will feel uncomfortable, whereas a straight person, you would probably say something along the lines, are you gay?
i think Stern is stupid for having to be so politically correct
if everyone wants freedom of speech for gays, who are a small minority, why can't there be freedom of speech for straight, who make up the majority? double standards always screw over the majority

Tim Hardaway is entitled to say what he thinks, but he has to deal will the fallout from controversial remarks. The US government can't regulate free speech in a case like this, but David Stern can certainly control the NBA environment with an iron fist. Just like the dress code. And tights.
And the ball...well, not so much the ball....
Nevertheless, stupid move on Hardaway's side for comments severely lacking in PC, homophobic or not.

Exactly. Why doesnt Stern apologize for being a jerk. He changed the ball when no one wanted it to be changed and is forcing the players to dress up to games. He should apologize for not respecting the players rights in the league to dress how they want to dress. If Hardaway does not like gay people then he has a right to say it. At the most he should get fined thats it not this banishment crap.

Free speech is a joke. When you have a job as the one Hardaway had ( he will be canned at some point) requires to think twice about what issues you talk about. Hardaway was not PC with his comments. Besides, how much of an idiot can he be by saying the stuff he said on the radio.
What is wrong with saying, no commet or I do not have an opionion about it.

he doesn't HAVE to apologize. He said what he said. That was free speech! He IS entitled to his opinion and he said it...what's not free in that speech? What he now has to do is accept any consequences of his hate speech. It's not like he just said 'i disagree and it makes me uncomfortable' he said he 'hates gays'. That's like saying that you 'hate blacks'. If you said that in the NBA you'd have to deal with the consequences. People, of course, are going to react to his hate. He's not entitled to anything...nba all star weekend, etc...the nba can choose what former players they want there and they don't want tim hardaway there now. He doesn't have to do anything. In fact, all this will do is force nba players to take 'gay sensitivity' training or something like that and will make the dude who came out this past week sell more books. Hardaway probably made it worse for himself and his beliefs by saying he 'hated' anyone. He obviously has free speech. if not, he wouldn't have been allowed to say that. free speech is alive and well my friend and he doesn't have to say anything he doesn't want to. He's just bummed now that he has to deal with the consequences of his free speech.

they are ranting basically such as you're. the government incredibly isn't the single proscribing loose speech interior the context you defined (they do it on occasion in different aspects nonetheless). interior the top, that's you that's proscribing your speech--government regulations so a strategies as race are worried are quite minor--i think of you may (perchance) get charged with verbal attack for dropping the n bomb. What makes you sense this style is the media and the message being sent via black leaders. you may think of roughly this message as being the closest to finding out what black human beings p.c. which you will have the skill to parent (provided that i do no longer anticipate you to be acquaintances). Political correctness is basically rules for manners--so as which you do no longer by twist of destiny say something insulting. in case you p.c. to be insulting on purpose, via all potential talk your ideas.

I don't agree with Tim or believe he is somewhat courageos for speaking his mind...But something good will come out of this ... Communication, sharing of information..learning and growing as person as a country as a planet. This is how we will grow to become better people. Hate/prejudice towards a human bieng/group is a disease that kills this process. And when your not growing as a person..well that means your dead. Theres good people and bad people that's it, anything else doesn't matter.
Without communication, sharing of information and growing we all would still be wondering how to start fire.Or we would be extinct.
Talking is easy...doesn't take courage to talk......
Yes, he is entitled to his opinion, free speech etc.it's the first step of sharing information. From this hopefully we will learn and grow

He does have his rights to free speech, but also has to deal with the consequences of his actions. He chose to verbalize his belief and the NBA did as well.

Tim Haraway is an idiot. He is a degenerate. He is a disgusting, dirty, defective person. I am just using my right to free speech to say this.

Everyone does have their opinions, but good taste and decorum dictate some opinions should be kept to themselves. He showed low class in his comments. And to the first answerer, are you really that stupid to think everyone in sports hates gays?
