I am going to go with five. I think the Canoe is on top of the car, headed upstream at 45 mph. If all four wheels fall off, then you have an accident with the original car, and a possibility of 4 others with the wheels (pancake=accident in a loose way and doghouse can also mean shop). There are so many synonyms and such for those words it could be almost anything.

I'm thinking the canoe is still on top of the car and the driver is headed towards the river going 45 mph. The fact that it's just 1 paddle maybe means that it's only one person, then I'm lost after that..... 8 pancakes? 45 mpg = 4+5=8?

first, the canoe would have to be towed to go that fast upstream, second, if it was possible to go upstream that fast, it would just go in circles with only one paddle, third, you have to take the canoe off the truck before you put it in the water, fourth, you dont put pancakes in the doghouse, you put them in your mouth.
