The 2006 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), launched by Transparency International (TI), shows that Finland, Iceland and New Zealand are the least-corrupt countries to do business in, but that the US is among those with a significant worsening in perceived levels of corruption.

With a score of 2.8 on a scale of zero to 10, India occupies the 90th rung along with countries like Gambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Russia and Tanzania in the corruption perception index released on Wednesday. However, India has shown a slight improvement over its 2002 score of 2.1.

Is it not a dream for every average Indian to be known as Citizen of the best country in the earth. Can ever India become 1st and if so how and when.

Well it is a fact that India is a corrupt country and it has shown slight improvement from the past years, but what was that effort that made it happen? It is education and education. When people are educated they can easily differentiate between rights and wrongs and we have seen that from last 5 years education is increasing in our country. The upcoming of media with sting projects also made a state of fear in the minds of bribe takers and corrupt people, these operations has really slowered down the corruption and in the upcoming years with the spreading of eduation corruption will eradicate from our country but ot will take time after all "Rome was not built in a day".

Acoording to the survey in 2006 74.3% of the educated people were against corruption and i am sure that this figure will surely increase in the upcoming years.
