Find a dropzone with an Accelerated FreeFall program. There are 7 levels, with a skydive "test" per level.
Generally, the first 3 levels you will exit the plane with 2 instructors, the last 4 you only have one instructor. Each level you will have to complete different skydiving maneuvers.

After you complete that program, you are able to jump by yourself without any supervision.

Do AFF, it's the only way to go if you want to be taken seriously by USPA (United States Parachute Association).

In Oregon, you have to take a four hour class ($100)and then do a test jump. I don't know if it is different from state to state.
