When there are alternate options, and with knowledge of the pain and destruction war brings, as being 'civilized beings', how can we resort to murdering one another to settle differences/bring about changes? Isn't society enlightened enough to say 'Stop!'?

Unfortunatly many people profit from war. Take GW for example, his family is in the oil business and he is making a killing right now (in more ways than one). People like the power they have over others whether it be financial or political.
