I don't know about the 1st round pick, but I think it's still a good deal. Parent and Upshall has represented Canada in the World Juniors and I think they both have won medals there, and Nashville wants to dominate the playoffs this year. Works out for both teams.

Nashville got the best of this deal because:
1) the team who gets the best player in a trade wins that trade.
2) Forsberg, when healthy, is one of the best players in the world.
3) he could help Nashville win the Stanley Cup if he gels with his new teammates.
Philadelphia got the best of this deal because:
1) The season was lost and it was time to look to the future
2) Forsberg is an UFA and could have left or retired and they would have been left empty handed
3) They get Upshall a good player who is only 23
4) They get Parent who is 19, 6'2", and a top draft choice
5) They get Nashville's 1st and 3rd round draft choices (though mostly likely LATE picks)
It all comes down to Nashville winning the Cup. If they do it's a great deal for them. Philadelphia does well no matter what happens (though is this the best deal that was out there?).

Upshall, Parent and some draft picks don't seem like enough for Forsberg. Isn't there a better offer out there? And does Nashville have enough room under the salary cap for Forsberg? The cap is why you probably won't see teams like the Red Wings, Devils, etc. stock up with high-priced veterans for the stretch run, as they have done in the past.

People seriously Philly got the best deal out of this because yes they havent won a game without peter in the lineup but who cares we arent going to do anything this season anyway, we got two former first rounders plus two draft picks they will only help rebuild the team, Forsberg is injury prone and at the end of the year the Flyers have the option of buying him back, the Flyers rented Forsberg to the preds for young guys and they can still get him back at the end of the year...my vote is for the Fly Guys

I think Nashville got one heck of a player. Too bad they have no idea if he will actually be able to play any games for them or not. They sure are taking a chance on Forsberg. He is the best player in the NHL---when he's healthy, which, unfortunately isn't very often.

Nah, he can't sing to save his life. Oh, you mean to play hockey...
Bad move. Great player, but the Preds have a good thing going and bringing in a marquee name could really disrupt team chemistry. Forsberg is injury-prone and on the downside as a player and I don't see him helping Nashville. He should stay where he is in Philly.

Nashville grew to become into the actual group interior the NHL without Peter Forsberg, this basically makes them much greater valuable! whether, goaltending has a huge gamble to be the X element interior the NHL playoffs, however the Preds are frightening sturdy now.

good trade only if he resigns in the summer....basically the flyers got 3 1st round picks for a player who they may get back in a few months...if the flyers dont resign him they still got a lot for a player who may retite after this season. With or without Forsberg flyers will be in the playoffs next year bc they will be 20 mil under the cap!!!!!!!!!!

Philly was 15 and 20 with him
0 and 16 without him
Now they lost one of the only 2 NHL caliber players they had
But it really doesn't matter

Probably it's a good idea, because the Flyers still suck.
