Oden or Durant which one would you take

Presuming Oden and Durant both come out, Oden will be selected first.

Durant will probably be the better player but the center will always be selected first as they are harder to come by. Look at recent draft history and it will display what i am talking about.

'05 draft - 1st pick Andre Bogut/ Center - selected befor Chris Paul, Deron Williams , Raymond Felton - 3 of the best young Pgs currently in the league were skipped over for a Center last year.

'04 draft - 1st pick Dwight Howard/ Center - selected before versatile PF who won NCAA championship - Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon a sweet shooting SG also an NCAA champ, amazing scorer.

With the exception of the '03 draft (Lebron James), the first player selected in every draft for at least the last 6 years was a Center or a Power Forward who would play Center. (Bargnani '06, Ming '02, K-Mart '01, Tim Duncan '97, Micheal Olowakandi '00, Elton Brand '99)

So as far as I see, unless Durant puts on 30 lbs. quickly, I see Oden getting the nod.

Even though Durant is clearly the best scorer and player in College Hoops this year Oden would be a better pick for the NBA #1 pick. There is soooo many scorers like Durant in the NBA but how many Oden's do you see that can rebound swat people and when his hand gets completely good he will be able to be a great offensive threat. And if he keeps shootin those free throws left handed he won't be too bad at the line in the NBA either ;).

Kevin Durant. He is a mobile big man and he's freaking athletic. Oden is good too but doesn't have the skills that Durant has on O.

Durant has got mad game. but so do all the other athletic 6'6"-6'9" SF-PF that have come into the league. Oden is a true post that will star above alot of post players in the last 10 years. I see him as another Duncan or possibly Shaq (won't be as dominant as shaq though)

I'd take Durant because he's killin' 'em in the NCAA circuit. He's getting liek 25 and 11 and its his first season. This is not to say that Oden isn't beastly, but the only downfall for him is that you dont' kno wut ur getting with him and his broken right hand. Chances are he'll be a great basketball player with now abilities to play with both hands, but he just hasn't proven his dominant force in NCAA mostly because of his broken hand. Either way these two players are 1 and 2 draft picks.

It is a proven fact that Center caliber players like Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal win championships and for that reason I would choose Greg Oden.
