I've never actually used the public transportation in Orlando, but I have read pretty good reviews about Lynx (I believe that is how it is spelled)
You should contact them, you may be better off getting a pass or something if you are there for awhile instead of paying each time.
If you only want to go to parks, you should look into staying at either Disney or Universal's hotels, they provide transportation to their own hotels. Also, many of the offsite hotels offer transportation to the parks, you just need to look into it for the hotel you are looking at. If you plan to stay offsite, try to find a hotel that will be near a bus stop.
If you are looking for something like a Taxi, they are okay, not the best service, but they get the job done. But, they really can rack up in cost, so just be careful if you go this way because you will pay a lot of money.
I hope this answers your question. Have a great time!

Well it depends where in Buena Vista you are staying? Disney is right on the doorstep so if you are near Hawthorne Suites hotel (where we stayed) or Dennys or The Olive Garden then transport isn't necessary as it's about a 15 min walk. Seaworld is about 10 mins drive in the opposite direction and transport is good-the bus stop is right outside. Universal is much further away but you should be able to get transport to it.

We have stayed in lake Buena Vista three times with no car and it's been fine for transport.
We stayed one at the" Comfort Inn" and Twice at the "Sheraton Safari"
Most hotels offer a free shuttle to Disney World and we often use the Checker Cab or another taxi firm depending on what's available. You can fit five in the cars and more in the mini vans and its a cheap option especially if there are four or five of you.
It costs about $7 to get from Sheraton safari to downtown but you should include a tip.
Have a lovely time, wish I was going this year !!

A lot of the hotels in LBV (lake Buena Vista) run coaches to and from the major parks the advantage of which is they drop you right outside the park gates which saves you the aggro of parking to be honest even though we can both drive we used the coaches because for one they are free and it is much easier than driving, hope that is of help have a fantastic holiday..
