I was in split and Zagreb a few months ago. They wear the same things that you (I'm assuming American) and I (aussie) wear. I guess my impression of Split people were that they dress better...more fashionable than anywhere else I've seen. They are close to Italy and on the Adriatic coast so its fashion city!! Most live in apartments, there are some new ones and some old style ones. The people who live on the islands all live in houses. Some very new and expensive, others having 3 foor walls made out of dry rocks. You will be surprised by how nice they are inside though...most have been redone inside. I have photos I can send if you like.
Oh by the way Croatians invented the tie. It was worn by Croatian(yugo) soldiers and came to be known as the cravat - what now men wear as a neck tie.

Must reply to "mt's" Euro dollar, first.
Sorry, there's no currency as Euro dollar, there is only currency called Euro. It's true there's an American dollar, Australian dollar... But you must understand that for example Italians who used to have lira or French who used to have frank, didn't have lira dollar or frank dollar or English who still have pounds don't say they have pound dollar. The euro is the currency of thirteen European Union countries: Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia (not Slovakia!!) and Finland. Euro banknotes and coins have been in circulation since January the 1st 2002 and are now a part of daily life for 315 million Europeans living in the euro area.

So mt and others (I'm guessing Americans), if you want to learn more, go to:

And yes, Croats are dressed very well. Of course it is a difference if you go to Zagreb, their capitol, or in some smaller or poorer area. But isn't that common practice?

They wear same clothing as American people do. However what is fashionable here now it was there before. What I mean is that they are usually ahead of us when it comes to fashion. If you are thinking of visiting you should know that things are much more expansive there than here. Also they use Euro dollars which are worth more than American dollars. I was in Europe in January and for 250 dol. I got 172 euros.
When it comes to houses they are same as here the only difference is they are made from brick and they are better quality and roofs are nicer too.

I have been there, mostly they dress as we do.

Same for houses, except most are not built to the same standards as ours are.
