How to prevent them from going into shock?

If you think they may be going into shock or is badly injured, CALL 911 immediately. Keep the person's attention. Talk to them. If there is no sign of possible spinal injury, elevate the persons legs.Turn the person's head to the side in case of vomiting. Keep the person warm and wait until help arrives.

It all depends on the injury. If it is bleeding, you first need to stop the bleeding before they go into shock from loss of blood, make sure you apply direct pressure to the wound and elevate the affected area. They to keep them calm and call 911. Any other type of tramatic injury as long as it isn't painful raise the legs to a 35 degree angle or lower the head to cause the blood to be more abundent in the brain causing the person to be more alert.
