Yep, about 12 hours on and 12 hours off is a good amount for pretty much any fish.

yes, the fish need normal light cycles, this is why heating with a lamp isn't good because when you shut the light off the temp drops, and there will be too many fluctuations between turning it on and off everyday.

u should turn the light off at night, and its a good idea to get a timer to shut it off and on at the same time every day

you dont need to leave your light on in the tank for any longer than 6 hours for safety of your fish and of your tank

yes, fish get upset by light if you leave it on to long and give them a little stress, they sleep too.
