As an Indian,my people make up for less then 3% of prison population across the United States where other races make up 37% and the blacks make up 60% of total prison populations. Why is this, and why are more and more law enforcement bodies being accused by the NAACP for profiling.while this is a proven fact?

Uh, did you know that Indians make up 1.5% of the US population. So if you make up 3% of the prison population, percentage-wise you're not doing ANY better than blacks.

Secondly, check your facts. There are way more whites in prison. Start with the Bureau of Prisons.

Thirdly, an INDIAN is worried about someone else's race? How did you detox off the alcohol long enough to even type this question? I guess you had to tear yourself away from the casino slot machines.

1. Actually African-Americans make up 12% of the population nationally, not 20%.

2. Criminal behavior is predicated on socio-economic class, race is incidental. The poorer people are overall, while being totally integrated into society -- the more likely they are to become criminals. It's all economics.

3. Native Americans are not fully integrated into society, most poorer Native Americans live on reservations -- so 2 above does not fully apply. Even so, Native Americans do not make up 3% of the population, so it is still disproportionate.

4. You really don't care about 3, because you are just a clever bigot, trying to get the minorities to fight each other. I don't buy it for a second.

I am Caucasian by the way.

There have been many studies on this issue. The answers are clear. Very interesting question with answers, but I think the problem remains. Maybe, we as a culture, reaped what we sowed. I use this as a lesson to my own children, some consequences of mistakes last forever.
The world made many mistakes with the way it treated the middle east over the last 100 years----look where it led. Every ill we have cast upon ourselves. Fixing mistakes takes more effort and a longer time than making the mistake. Old wisdom

Wherever there is serious poverty in the United States there are high birth rates. This goes for hispanic and rural white areas as well. From poverty comes desparation and this results in crime. In poverty striken areas there develop cultures of crime, some people make their way out of it, but the cycle continues to repeat without them. It's a social phenomenon throughout the world.

Also, whenever you question if certain societal behaviors is the result of race, you'll come to a conclusion a lot faster if you realize that it is a matter of culture, environment, upbringing, and history--not biology--that causes these behaviors.

These statistics are just numbers. Analyzing them and proving causality is another story.

If one were to take a statistics class, you would feed this data through a hypothesis test. These numbers would lead one to either believe the Null hypothesis or the alternative.

These numbers could be interpreted to mean that Black commit more crimes than do Whites.

They could also be interpreted to mean that more Black criminals get caught than do White criminals.

They could also be interpreted to mean simply that more Blacks are incarcerated than are Whites (implying profiling).

People can go off the deep end even and make some sociological conclusion that this "proves the degradation of the Black family".

Point being.... These are just numbers, they PROVE nothing, simply classify.

because the united states goverment created ghettos in citys where blacks have no jobs poor housing and plenty of drugs coming in .i think its a goverment experiment that will be exposed in time. like the warsaw ghettos the nazi's formed in poland . im white you indians are no threat to whites you are such a small minority. blacks are a threat to the white goverment they rioted in los angelos and in the 60s all over america.blacks are seen as drug dealers lowlifes and trouble by law enforcement.

In Canada it is the Indians that commit about 70% of the crimes in this country, and our prisons are full of them, and here in Canada they literally get away with murder, because our government dose not have enough jam to simply take them out, so we the tax payer continue to pay hundreds of millions of dollars every year to keep them in a five star prison condo.

The last time I tried to answer a question that had to do with the ***** character, with no insults at all, somehow it was deleted from the answer section.

I believe some truths cannot be said.
Nevertheless I believe that profiling is necessary its a fast reaction and its percentage of success is high. Of course some mistakes are made

so let me get this right, blacks 60, white 37, and indians 3. well now thats a hundred percent and we haven't even locked up any hispanics yet.

The actuall figures are more like 44 percent white, 38 percent black, 12 percent hispanic, and the n the rest. Those are the latest figures that I have seen.

Plus, remember if the cops only patrol black people's nieghborhoods, then that is all they are going to arrest. Prison population is not the people who commit crime they are the people who get convicted.

I black person and white person can both be arrested for the same crime the white person gets probation, the black person get hail. Dont tell me that it doesn't happen, because my college roomate is now a prosecutor and he tells me that it does ( he hates his job)
