Bad service, and uncleanliness. I couldn't care less about the food aspect because maybe I just didn't like the food and I won't order it again, but I'd still return. Lousy service though and an unkempt restaurant will turn me off forever. For instance, there are two restaurants in town with horrible service although they're uspcale casual. Even though one is the only sushi place in town, I won't go there again because of the service. And I let everyone know it too!

Having to wait too long for your food, even when the place is not busy. Also getting food over cooked or under cooked, when they ask how you'd like it done. Hire someone who knows what rare, med. rare, med. well done and well done means. And having waiters/waitresses that are friendly helps. Hope you have success. The people you hire, along with good food will ensure you can make a go of it.

It depends on the restaurant. If you're going to a fine dining restaurant it's about the food, service, and the experience.

However, if you're going to Taco Bell it's not really about the food (even though it tastes okay), and it's not about the service, but it's about the convenience, the speed, and the price.

It just depends!

Excellent question. I hate when hostesses seat me near the bathroom or the kitchen or next to a family of 5 kids. That just spells disaster and i will literally walk out. I hope that answers your question. Food quality is also key.

Crying kids
The AC is always too freakin' cold
Silverware is never on the table before you sit down and it should be
Those huge pieces of lettuce for decoration on the plate...can't they think of something different..they always put hot food on those and they wilt and stink before you get it
They never have splenda on the table
Never a descent dessert selection..its always the same thing

I hate it when the server doesn't anticipate obvious needs (ie. ketchup with the fries, extra napkins with the ribs, refill empty drink glasses, etc.) and then he/she disappears so I can't even ask for these items -- or I have to bother another worker to go hunt them down.

I was a waitress myself for many years and my customers rarely had to ask for anything at all, because after awhile, one begins to learn what "extras" people will need/want with their meal. It's not rocket science, and it always blows my mind when other servers can't do this.

Lack of
a)management and
b)consistency in the food and is the worst !!

If you are going to own the place, plan on being there a lot !!
If not the place will not succeed.
