Won;t eat can be a problem if it goes on for very long. The fins with white tips may or may not be a problem actually. Many bettas have white at the tips of these fins and it sometimes takes a while to develop. If you can get a pic of the fish and either post it or email it to me I can help you be sure. magicman116@yahoo.com

did you just get him? if so he may not be eating because he is adjusting, and if the tips (btw they're called ventral fins ^_^) have always been white it may just be his coloring or even if they slowly developed this way, one of mine has yellow tips.

it could also be water temp. room temp makes tropical fish like bettas slow down, so they won't eat much and get sick easier, if it gets too cold they can die. you should have him in a tank with a heater (and preferably a filter, but frequent water changes can work well enough). the temp should be at least 75°F, but preferably 78°-80°F.

could be water quality if you're not changing it often enough or don't have a filter. however usually this is painful to them and they will flip around the tank or jump out.

however, if he's not new and the tips were not always white and they suddenly got white he is most likely getting sick. do the white tips look like sprinkles of salt on his fin or do they look cottony? it could be a few disease, so details are important.

I hope you bought the food that has for Betta's on the label. Mine love it. As for the white spots could be ICH...they do sell drops to treat that disease. Ask someone at the pet store.

Omy, sounds like your betta is sick. he is not eating because he is not feeling good. As for the white spots could be finrot, or could be ich. Both are cureable, but i would reallt need to see a pic to make a correct diagnosis. spikeomega@yahoo.com please send me a pic
