Usually hackers will leave destruction in their wake, such as system instability, sudden slowdown in system performance, missing files, or new files appearing that you don't remember downloading/creating, etc. The more skilled hackers won't leave a trace of their activity, often just browsing your files and copying stuff they want from your computer. Others will use your computer for their own use, such as mass e-mail scams or illegal activities. That way any attempt from the FBI to trace the illegal activities will lead back to your computer instead of their own.

I don't know from personal experience but if you've been hacked the hacker will probably stay on your computer and cause things to run. In other words, I don't know, but things that you did not click will open.

Money MAY go missing out of your bank account. If you think this has happened change ALL of your passwords on all of your on-line account straight away. Contact your bank/Internet provider. Good luck.
