I am disappointed by Manny Pacquiao. He just waste his boxing career. If he still in boxing, he would still bring honor to the Philippines.

If Manny Paquiao is elected to office it speaks more of how ill prepared, inept, uninformed Philippine voters are than how unqualified Manny Paquiao is to hold office.
If Manny Paquiao is elected to office the Philippines deserves to remain a Third World Country and the people cannot blame the U.S.A., the President of the Philippines, or anyone else other than themselves.
The defeat of Manny Paquiao in any election can send a message to the world and especially foreign investors that the people of the Philippines are serious about becoming the leading country in South East Asia. They can send a message that they understand elections are about selecting qualified leaders rather than a popularity contest.
Manny Paquiao had the skill, determination, self-control and perserverance to become a world class boxer, yet he chose not to use those same skills to finish elementary school. This speaks volumes of the emphasis and importance he places on education.
Manny Paquiao chose not to pay taxes on income he earned in the U.S.A. until threaten with arrest and he has attempted to get out of paying taxes in the Philippines. This speaks volumes of the emphasis and importance he places on obeying the laws of the land.
Manny Paquiao attempted to manipulate the electoral system by registering in Manila and accepting a gift of a condo from the Mayor of Manila so he could run for office in Manila. This speaks volumes of the extent he will go to be elected without any regard to how he gets there. It also speaks volumes of his loyalty to friends and citizens of General Santos.
Manny Paquiao signed two different contracts with two different management companies to manager one fighting career at the same time. This speaks volumes on the value he places on his words, promises and legal contracts.
Manny Paquiao, Congressman, Senator, President of the Philippines. I am all for it maybe the Peso would not be as strong and my dollar would be worth more. If things got too bad under his rule I can always leave the place I love and choose to live and go home.

Well, you do not have to judge the book by its cover, why not give him a chance! The constitution requires only that the candidate can read and write no more no less, But Manny even communicates well in English and he has already the riches in his banks so corruption is 100% out of his system! Sincerity? It is well painted in his face and personality! I believe that he can deliver the needs of his constituents more effectively considering that he came from the lower level of the society. He knew the pulse or the needs of the poor than the others who have been in politics for quite a time. Politicking am sure is not his strategy but the urge to help the unprivileged!

If this extremely ignoramus Manny Pacquiao is elected congressman, then the Philippines will be declared sure winner as the country of idiot creatures in the universe.
This Manny Pacquiao, a grade three pupil, has the nerve aiming for the position in Congress who can hardly read, who can't even speak good tagalog. Can a grade three pupil discharge the functions of a legislator credibility as against the veteran Darlene Antonino-Custodio, a La Salle graduate?
If he made it, then surely he will utilize his pork barrel in supporting his mistresses. One of his mistresses is the harlot of ABS-CBN Davao streetwalker(reporter) Lani Alagcan. He built a mansion in an exclusive subdivision for this scarlet woman. This woman once tasted the fist of Manny's wife.
If the Gensan people will allow this grade three pupil to represent themselves in congress, he(Pacquiao) will be useful if he will ask the House Speaker to appoint him as one of the janitors in congress.
Imagine a grade three pupil in the House of Representatives, it's like an achovy or dried fish being placed in the Pacific Ocean or it's like an illiterate in the Harvard Law School.
I pray he won't make it.

He should seriously stick to boxing.
I think that's the trouble with the elections here. Just because an actor portrays a hero, or in Manny's case is a hero due to his boxing, it doesn't mean that they'd be great lawmakers. I think people who have no idea how to run a city or province or nation should stick to what they're good at and not join politics.

i think what jen jo said is an understatement.
what does paquiao know about the law?!
he's a boxer and he should stick to that and not jump to a career he's not trained for.
why do celebrities think they can be politicians? the elections isn't supposed to be a popularity contest!
i overheard a couple of jeeppney drivers the other day...
its amazing how jeepney drivers understand this and manny paquiao doesn't.

There are two sides to this scenario.
1. My gut tells me Manny will EVENTUALLY fall prey to the institutionalized corruption and be, like most Filipino politicians, a disservice to his constituents.
2. However, most Filipino politicians are college educated, world travelled lawyers and such and obviously are not representative of the typical poor and undereducated Filipino citizen. Because of the disparity in their backgrounds, these pols show no desire to TRULY help their less fortunate countrymen--whom they see as non-constituents. So I think having a Grade 3 educated Manny P as a congressman could be an interesting EXPERIMENT to see if the literal "man of the people" could possibly better serve his countrymen compared to the other elitist congressmen who dominate the Congress, don't you think?
Things that make you go "hmmmmm".

I think that he's so caught up with his popularity and all that and he knows that he's going to win because people love him. Yeah maybe he wants to help his countrymen but doesn't he think that maybe he's just being used by other politicos? I mean, isn't that what they did to the late FPJ? What sucks is that he's allowing others to use him and manipulate him. Hello, what does he know about being a congressman? It's so different from boxing!

This is the sad reality of Philippine politics. Whoever prodded him to run for Congress thinks lowly to the citizenry, and particularly to voters in General Santos City. They think the great majority of Filipinos are still incapable of making their own decision.
Because Filipinos are so fond of celebrities and famous that these people think Pacquiao will have a great chance of winning not only for him but also to the party he belongs.
But Pacquiao also has all the right to run for Congress. He intends to continue helping the people in General Santos City who may have been long neglected by its incumbent Congresswoman who was not even known to pass laws of great importance.
If Pacquiao will run for Congress, blame it to the incumbent Congresswoman.
