All I have heard so far is that if you have a jar with a code that begins with 2111, it came from the contaminated plant. Well, I have some jars that have those four digits in the beginning of the code. I wanna know if there's a way to get a coupon to replace the jars...
and I am curious to know more details about this. Has anyone heard anything? Is it as bad as the spinach or Taco Bell lettuce scares?

To get a refund, consumers should send lids and their names and addresses to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078.
For more information, call (866) 344-6970.

Salmonella is in some cases fatal, but isn't poisonous. It is infectious, rather. Look on the dates of the jar, if it is before 2007 or on 2007, DO NOT EAT IT, however 2008 - present, will be perfectly fine. Source quoted below, "On February 14, 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan peanut butter or Great Value peanut butter due to risk of contamination with Salmonella. An ongoing inspection of the ConAgra's Sylvester, GA processing plant is still underway, but the FDA has confirmed samples collected revealed the presence of Salmonella. Tests conducted by several states also found Salmonella in multiple open jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter from consumers."

The type of food poisoning that has contaminated the Peter Pan peanut butter is the salmonilla virus. It is one of the worst strains of food poisoning out there. So far it has sickened people in 39 states. Some have had to be hospitalized. I watched the CBS Evening news a little while ago and all they are saying is that if you have these jars (the ones with the serial numbers that start with 2111) to just throw them out. I do not believe that there will be any financial reimbursement from ConAgra Foods. I, too, had some jars in my cupboard, and they are now in the dumpster!!!

Go to any news website such as cnn.com or foxnews.com You kind find info about it there. I haven't seen coupons for replacement jars. I just tossed mine in the trash.
