As a current coach and active cheerleader for over 12 years I have based every type of flyer there is. The small easy toss, the tall flexable flyer, the heavier girl, the girl who has never set foot in the air before. I think that if you can stay within the 110-125 range that would make you a solid flyer. I think people feel that the smaller the flyer the better. I could not disagree more with that statement. Sometimes the bigger flyers are the ones that feel lightest in the air because they have more muscle ton to control their bodies in the air. So do not feel pressured by the weight aspect of flying. I think if you get the right coach, and experienced bases you could do a wonderful job at flying. You have to know how to keep your body tight in the air, knees locked, head/eyes looking up, and just have confidence that you can do it. I flew one time and it was not for me, I prefer the ground! If you want to learn how to fly but can not find anyone to practice with, practice standing on stairs, trampoline or invest in a flyer block...they are not that expensive and they really give the best feel for being in the air...but closer to the ground. Also during tryouts talk to the coaches & experianced flyers about what you would like to try and they should be able to give you hands on pointers on how to make you a great flyer! But best of luck to you!

A whaaaa? I think you're a little small to play for the Philly Flyers hockey team, honestly. But, if you work really hard and bulk up, I'm sure you can do it!
Though honestly, I think if you've never cheered- you should just shoot to get on the squad. High school takes 4 years, 5 if you're particularly dumb, and that way you can spend a year getting good at all the general stuff, then pick up a specialty position.

I'm a cheerleader and I know in my high school we take the flyers with most expirence, flexibility, and balance. You would probably be a good backspot or, if you are strong, a base. They'll decide what the best position is for you. Keep practicing and stretching!

I was a cheerleader my first year in high school cool, I have also been a dancer my whole life. You are not to heavy to top. Most people can top really good if they do exactly what they are told. Just remember to keep pulling up, try and be as light as possible. Most importnatly always trust your bases, and if you don't like them just try and pretend you guys are best friends. Good Luck.

It depends on how big the other girls are. You are thin, but tall. Most flyers are about 5 feet tall and weigh about 100 pounds, but your squad may have larger girls.
