Finally a good question in the history section of this forum.
My favourite historical periods would be...
a. Elizabethan England because it was the period that England would begin to become the strongest nation in the world.
b. Pre-Civil War American History because it gets into how the Americans were divided on so many issues...such as slavery.
c. The Crusades (my personal favourite) religious wars and chivalry. Doesn't get any better than that.
d. The English Civil War because it led to the rise of of the people having a voice in England.
e. Balkans 1900-1914 because of the conflicts that led to WWI

If favorite means interesting or influential for subsequent ages to come, my list would include the following (not necessarily in order):
1. The beginning of the Christian era (the birth of Christ and the subsequent evangelization);
2. The fall of the Roman Empire;
3. The rise of cities and trade in Western Europe;
4. The rise of Spain as a world power, beginning with Isabella and Ferdinand, culminating in the accession of Philip II: this includes the discovery of America;
5. The Protestant Revolt (or Reformation, depending on how you view the events) and the Catholic Reformation (or Counter-Reformation);
6. More or less simultaneous with 4 and 5 is Tudor England (including Elizabethan England), from Henry VII to Elizabeth I;
7. The Victorian Era, including the rise of America, the growth of industry in Western Europe and America;
8. Cold War Era (1945-1989);
9. The Present (1989-onward).
Some events should be interesting, the fall of Constantinople for instance. There are so many, I'm hard put to write them all down.

I love the Western Pioneers! They had to be so strong to go hundreds of miles from Missouri just to live in Oregon. Those had to have been some of the strongest people i've ever heard of, along with the jews, but I wouldn't pick that period, its too gruesome and sad, especially with Anne Frank.

The Elizabethan Age because they had scandal and lover at court. During that time they went through religious turmoil. And so much more!
Also the founding of America because Benjamin Franklin is such an amazing man he was a states man, scientist, Founding Father, and he brought our country to a new height of inventions.

My favorite is the Jurassic period because there were only dinosaurs. No humans were around to screw things up.
