Why? give good answers, not "its reverse discrimination" or any of that non sense, it's been proven that people going to college through affirmative action go through it at the same rate as someone not on affirmative action. The people going through it are as qualified as any other person not on it.

Affirmative action will end when Martin Luther King's dream full comes true. When there is no longer a feeling of hate toward a specific group because of their ethnicity, or a piece of paper they don't have. Obviously they are going to choose the best qualified, regardless of color, if anyone does choose based on color that is discrimination and should not be tolerated, but for the sake of upholding this countries basic principles, Affirmative Action must stay. Quit calling everything pro civil rights communist or evil, its getting old.

I think equality based on credit and merit is important not race, creed or color? However whether you like it or not it has been abused in reverse! We needed to stop it in the Colleges for the sports players were making money for the College and they would get entry based on a 20 point system, versing an honor roll student with a 4.0 and they only gave them 2 points! Of course the affirmative action was applied in defense and abused to get the Black player in school, University of Michigan and they are still being sued! Showing the Basketball player had a D average and under 3.0 average as well. On the other hand i think that only American born should be the first to benefit from our educational system and not anyone else, with the grants and scholarships! I think the taxpayer should no longer pay for public schools in New York for the immigrant Arabic people or they will cut back on the other schools or raise the taxes again! I think they should stop give away programs for the Hispanics as well! We have paid for them in all our schools and that is ridiculous! The early immigrants never had these benefits and maybe we should have and made a moratorium on all these people who abused our system! Black people were made to think they did not belong! But when they were accepted they took advantage and still are making excuses for the affirmative action! And now they are blaming the Hispanics? I agree that they should as Americans get first crack at all the opportunities and that is fact. But what about the white people? What do the poor white people get? A big kick in the behind, and then they are called white trash! So it does not work for anyone but Blacks , Hispanics, now the Arabs, and any other person the cat drags in here!

Affirmative action hurts everyone. If I have 10 candidates for a college or job I'm going to want to hire the best guy, not the guy of a certain race to fill a quota. Also a minority will have to deal with the thoughts and jeers of "you only got in because you're black, Hispanic, etc." It's not fair that a more qualified person is denied a spot just to fill a quota. True equality means racial blindness, it shouldn't even be asked on any sort of forms except maybe for census purposes.

The part of affirmative action that hurts, is not the going to college
Part.
Its the getting into college part. If there are limited seats why should race decide who gets in ?
Last November, Michigan voters voted down affirmative Action.

Whenever a decision based on skin color or ethnic background, its discrimination. This is clearly a violation of the 14th Amendment. Racial quotas should not the standard for the country.
Its especially true when students with better academic qualification are denied access to same college.
The NBA and NFL players are there because of their ability, not ethnic background or other identifying traits. Can you imagine an NBA made of players based on the ethnic composition of the US population - a team created by racial quotas?
Neither can I.

INCORRECT....the ones getting the advantage are not as qualified as those it hurts...That's the point...they are using it to take less qualified over better qualified candidates.
Take 2 persons...if they are the same then you let race be the deciding factor? How can you say it is not discrimination...by definition it is...The real problem is they aren't even going there...they are saying that they will take X % regardless of qualifications...that's the basis of Affirmative action...

Affirmative Action, AA, has had some very positive influences on our society. AA, as some wrongly believe, is not quotas. Quotas are actually illegal in this country. AA is simply an attempt to balance inequalities by trying to get businesses, schools, etc.. to focus on this inequality. This is accomplishes by sometimes offering benefits for hiring, etc.. ppl from historically oppressed sections of our society. IE, females, African Americans, the handicap, etc...

Giving special rights to a certain class of people is wrong. You all would be up in arms if there were special government funded programs to help insure white males represented a proportionate number of positions in the NBA based on population. Its easy to see the NBA is a racist institution based on the countries' demographics versus the racial breakdown of the NBA. White males are an underrepresented class and deserve government assistance to help them get into these high paying jobs that they are being unfairly excluded from.
See, sounds a little ridiculous doesn't it?

it is a moral digression. by implementing affirmative action, we are openly admitting that race, gender, culture, creed, and religion are all handicapping identity qualities.
i see it day in and day out. equal rights apparently does not mean equal rights. femenists and the black community alike love to play the cards to grant them special privelidges over the mojority status quo. people do not want equal rights, they want equal rights with pivelidges. it is a system of double standards.
and lo and behold, our system is destined for perpetual reliance. im sure i would play the cards too if i was a minority. why? because it would play in my favor. i know women that flirt at bars just to get free drinks. is that not what affirmative action is doing to our minorities? degrading them to the point of exploitation so they can get their free ride?
i watched recently as two black coaches coached in the superbowl. why was that all i heard for two weeks, instead of the fact that they were good coaches.
have you ever met a poor japanese american? what about all the indian and arab doctors? they earned their pay.
at the end of it all, do you want to say, i earned this because of me, or i earned this because the college/company/whatever had to cater to demographic responsibility?
