yeah pretty much make sure you get a micro SD card in 1g or 512mb format and the phone will pop up as its own drive just drag and drop into the memory card like its a computer disk. called sideloading
the software will automatically come out of the phone to transfer when you plug it in ive also found that using a memory card reader is even easier they have the portable ones that fit on your keychain and you just put the micro card in it as an adapter and plug it into any available usb port and saves the files there

hope it helps

You should be able to transfer files to the phone without any software. You just need to make sure that you use existing folders on the memory card on the phone. Make sure to use the recommended memory cards (Sandisk) as not all will work with the phone. I found that out the hard way that other brands won't work. Also don't format the memory card while on the computer this may make the card unreadable. I've heard that the phones will only work with 1 gig cards or less, anything larger will still be read as a 1 gig. I've got a 512 mbyte card and I can store about 100 to 120 songs on it in mp3 format. I also use the bluetooth to transfer files but that's only if I need to move a few files. Very slow moving files with bluetooth.
