The lakers traded Butler along with Chucky Atkins for Kwame Brown
Butler was a 15 point scorer for the lakers and was a 15 point scorer for the heat his rookie year (came over in the Shaq trade). Fell off a little his sophomore year before coming to the lakers and was given the opportunity to shine as a Wizard but he's improved since even joining the Wizards.
They had a nice piece on Butler awhile ago about how much he worked out and focused on improving his game this past summer and cutting junk food out of his diet.
He's worked to improved and it's showed

Yeah Caron Butler wasn't nowhere near as good as he was now. He came over to Washington during the Kwame Brown trade

Caron Butler wasn't as good as he is now. He's a better fit in the Wizards and he's a good role player. I believe he was part of a trade for Kwame Brown.

Ummm the lakers traded him and chucky atkins for kwame brown. I don't think he was an all star caliber player when he was with the lakers. The potential was there but I don't he woud've fit into the triangle offense. His shot is a little shaky but he is incredibly athletic. He is a perfect match for the wizards style of play so he is an all star there.

no, he wasn't as good. heck, he wasn't as good LAST season. the guy worked his butt off during the summer. He trained and trained and trained and it's showing results. He's playing out of his mind this year and is a huge reason the wizzards are playing as well as they are. the answerers above are correct on the trade of kwame brown from washington for butler and atkins from the lakers.

caron butler had the potential to become a good player since he was in miami but he didnt quite fit in L.A. cause kobe at that time really didnt trust his teammates. but now i think caron butler fits well in WAS
