AnalogX Vocal Remover is probably the best free utility for what you want - it comes as a Winamp plugin or DirectX. There are good instructions for using both.

However, it is important to note that without the original audio tracks that compose the song (i.e. the drum track, the guitar track, the vocal track, etc.) it is impossible to truly remove the vocals from a song. The best you can hope for is if the final song was mixed in a certain way, programs like AnalogX will be able to invert one stereo channel against the other and *reduce* the vocals. It will have the side effect of making the song sound like it is playing underwater, or kind of like a low-quality MP3. Unfortunately without very expensive professional software and equipment and professional audio engineering experience, it's not possible to get clean samples from published tracks.

i like the two bands, yet i like the Who greater. I observed them back in 2006. :) i think of The who's additionally greater mythical, in custom, the Rock and Roll hall of acceptance, and different museums. The drumming of Rush may well be quite sturdy, yet i think of The Who wins for the guitar and vocals.
