I mean, is there like a program sold separately that upgrades iTunes, or can it only be done online?

you dont-- but you can and it is possibe----just do what i do ---- i dont have the enternet so i get at friend or i go to the libary and take my jumpdrive/thumdrive and download the instaler and save it to my jump drive and dont install on the computer then i take it home and install it off my drive and away we go --- no issues!!! try it ---it works

Sarcasm aside, some iPods have iTunes installation CDs, and I'm sure you can find them floating around somewhere.
