I have a client whose house was stolen from him. Someone forged his signature on a grant deed. This person (who probably doesnt exist) then took out a second TD on the property and maxed it out. This was probably done with the help of some dirty notaries. What can he do? The property is currently in foreclosure proceedings because he never knew this happened. He tried to refinance in June 2006 and that was when the grant deed was signed over. The company that originated the loan told him to come to their office and pay cash payments for the new loan and he did so for 5 months. He has cashier's checks and payment reciepts to prove it. What can he do?

Contact state regulators asap to get those crooks out of the business. They can also contact the FBI and Secret service if the notaries and other did this more than once. Contact the attorney general in your state and get a lawyer. Sometimes, you can also call the company that holds the deed and let them know what happened. They usually do their own investigation.
