The companies are making money. The buyers are not able to resell for profit, so things are good .. if you are a comic employee/writer

It is going strong. Many of the old titles that were cancelled are coming back, some staying to the way it was and others getting new looks and twists. All in all, Comics are here to stay.

The market ebbs and flows like any other industry. Successful film franchises like Spider-Man (Amazing Spider-Man is usually the benchmark for industry sales as awhole) help quite a bit.
