Or hold it in?

Crying is such a natural safety valve! You feel so good afterwards. If you are not comfortable crying in the presence of others or of someone else, simply get off by yourself and then let it go. As people get older, they will tell you they cry at the drop of a hat, and that when they were younger they would never cry under hardly any circumstances. I cried once hanging onto a tree and not only did it get all that upsetting stuff out of me, hanging onto the tree grounded me to earth and I don't think I had ever felt better for ages afterwards. There is no stigma in my book attached to crying. It is healthy to cry and a very valuable way to get back on top of things, generally. If you will think back, have you ever noticed that all the upset you were feeling finally let go and went away after you had a good cry?

Cry when you need to, there's no shame in it. And then move on.

Anybody who says hold it in is a fool.

Don't make your whole life a big tearjerker though.

I probably cry around once a year. I prefer to be alone when I do but it just gets rid of bad feeling.

Nice to see that nobody has said don't cry, so far.

No. Not just cry. Speak also. Communicate. It can be friend, mum, husband or God. Better the last One. And He is also The First and Only of cause :-) It helps. Always.

Always cry. It is a natural response by the body to certain situations. It is a safety valve put there to diffuse potentially explosive situations. And you always feel better afterwards!

I wish I knew how to hold it in, how do you do that? I cry over every stinking sob commerical, movie anything. I'm just emotional, how did you get so detached, and is it something I can learn?
