A blue ball point pen leaked a quarter-sized stain on our light brown carpet in a noticable area. I really don't want to cut it out, and replacing the carpet is not an option since it is fairly new. Can anyone help me??

I forgot to mention that the stain is dry. Will the hairspray still work?

I had exactly the same problem when my son threw a black ink pen across the room that was leaking. I was left with several black ink spots. The only thing that worked for me was Windex.....Yes Windex. The stuff is made of miracles. I sprayed the spots and dabbed with a sponge. The stains came right out. I now use Windex for everything. Good luck !!!!!!!!!!

Yes try the hairspray, spray it, let it dry and then remove with damp cloth, you might have to try several times, hopefully it will come out and then finish with a carpet cleaner. If you use hairspray, use the cheapest you can find. Good expensive hairspray doesn't work as well, I imagine they have some conditioners in there and that's the reason.

As crazy as it sounds.... try spraying the spot with hair spray & blotting up with a dry white cloth. Be careful not to smear it into a larger area. This works with pen marks on shirts... so give it a try! Or, if you have money to spare... try a commercial carpet cleaning company to come out & give it a try.

Use bleach it does wonders to rid stains or odors or any kind, but becareful of how much bleach is mixed with water. My advise is use very bleach and more water then put some elbow into it. scrub is what i mean.
