in a community property state the husband and wife would split everything down the middle and if one or the other wanted to keep the house then they would have to buy out the other one's half

I live in a 50-50 state and I got everything including the house. My attorney saw to it.

They get whatever the lawyers negotiate. As far as the State is concerned it starts at 50/50 with everything.
