Yeah,i know.Kinda hard to understand at first. After reading it like 10 times with a dictionary at hand, then i understood it,sorta.lol.
It's a deadly revenge taken by Poe on a friend who he claims has insulted him. Like several of Poe's stories, and in keeping with the 19th century fascination with the subject of death and mystery, the narrative revolves around a person being buried alive, basically. Montresor then remorselessly walls up the niche or whatever, entombing his friend alive. At first, Fortunato tries to escape; the narrator stops working for a while so he can enjoy the sound, lol. Fortunato then screams for help, but Montresor mocks his cries, knowing nobody can hear them; later, Fortunato laughs weakly and tries to pretend it's all been a joke. As the murderer finishes the topmost row of stones, Fortunato wails despairingly "For the love of God, Montresor!" Montresor replies calmly "Yes; for the love of God!" and places the last stone.Montresor has never been caught, and Fortunato's body still hangs from its chains where he left it so many years before. The murderer, unrepentant, ends the story by saying "May he rest in peace."

I also read this my soph. year of high school. Basically Montressor wants revenge on Fortunado because Fortunado cheated him (can't remember how). So at this big festival they had, Montressor gets Fortunado drunk off a cask (which is a huge bottle) of Amontillado (a Spanish wine). When he gets Fortunado drunk enough, Montressor takes Fortunado down into this tomb and seals him in brick by brick. hope this helps!

I remember reading it about 3 or 4 years ago. The basic plotline is that an insane man named Montresor seeks revenge against Fortunato, who keeps wines in the catacombs. The narrator (Montresor) buries him alive.

In the end, Alberto lets the monkeys loose, and they live a Bohemian lifestyle as free range chimps. 2 of them go on to college and one becomes a therapist and the other one is a lawyer. The other monkeys sit around and drink beer and smoke lots of pot. (Remind you of anyone???) One of the monkeys grows wings and gets a job in a re-make of the Wizard of Oz.............Well, it is perfectly obvious that you did NOT read this. Those other people who think that they are helping you are mistaken. By Enabling you with Cheating on your homework, they are simply perpetuating your ignorance. Read more and your spelling won't be so horrific. Even You can learn (if you weren't so Lazy!!!).

i really liked that story. i read it in my sophomore american lit class. i don't remember the narrator's name, but basically he wants to take revenge against another guy, fortunato, so he takes him down to the catacombs (like crypts). i don't remember the details, but at the end, he ends up burying fortunado alive.
