Yes. Now hand me the Geritol.
There is a computer museum in Mountain View. I didn't check out all their exhibits; they may have one of those behemoths.

Yes, I used to have a PDP-11/34 with 9 track tape, 40Mbytes of disk, and ports for 8 terminals. The disk drive was about the size of a laundry machine and weighed about 300 pounds. The tape drive was one 19" wide cabinet, about 60 inches tall, and the processor and memory etc was in another 19" cabinet.
I kept the whole thing in my dining room, as it was the only room in the house with lino floors. For air conditioning, I just kept a window open.
I finally got rid of it in 1997.
In my personal collection, I have a PDP-11/73 in a BA123 cabinet, a Microvax 3800 in a BA123 cabinet, a Microvax 3400, and an Alphaserver. The Alpha is interesting as it has Sixteen disk drives of 1MByte each in a RAID array.
Operating systems I am playing with are RSTS/E, VMS, Linux, and Windows.

The first I heard about computers was when I was six, about 1954. We had been out of the country for three years in a place where there was no TV. On American TV they were talking about the Univac electronic brain. On one show they used it to match couples up, but not much came of that because they would match somebody from Kansas with somebody from California. The old Univac computers used punch cards with round holes.

I certainly remember them, I was a keypunch operator! Believe it or not there are still computers in use that use 9 track tapes, (the reels), they are used for data storage / retrieval.
